Ensure that your windows operating system is current with all of the latest updates from Microsoft. You can do this by going to the Microsoft website and choosing "windows update". Run the installation program. During install you will be asked to choose a location for SoftDocket. It is NOT recommended that this path be changed. However if you wish to change it, when running SoftDocket for
the first time you will need to select the location of your database by clicking on the folder icon on the field marked "database". The database is called SOFTDOCKET.FDB and is located in the data directory.
The installation will ask you to choose client or server install. The demo version of SoftDocket is fully
network capable. Determine which computer you wish to install as a server before installation. If you are
running SoftDocket standalone on one computer, choose Server mode. Be sure and install the firebird database server the first time through.
Have all practice/firm information available at the time of install, along with a copy of your fee structure. After the installation is complete, run the program. The SoftDocket setup wizard will appear. Follow the
steps of the setup wizard to complete the program setup.
The system administrator login is:
login : SYSDBA
pass: masterkey
it is suggested you change this as soon as possible, and create regular user accounts for continued use.
